A sunny “island” in the middle of Riga’s Old Town, located right behind the glorious St. Peter’s Church, “Coco Loco” bar represents the very best of Jamaica: positive vibes of reggae, dub, ska and funk music, original Caribbean cuisine, and warm hospitality of its staff members.

From the outside, you might think it is a small venue, but in fact the bar has two pretty spacious floors with a brilliant upper-deck serving as a chill-out area, or a battlefield for those football matches at the “fuss-ball table”. Designed in all natural wood and stone and decorated with bright island accessories, “Coco Loco” gives you warm and cozy feel, just like classic Jamaican cabin should.

The menu is rather interesting, as it is fully written in “Patois” language (don’t worry, it is still translated into English) and offers some nice lunch and dinner options. For example, daily offers include dishes like pumpkin cream soup, or minced meat with rise/peach garnish, or salmon steak with beans and magical Shimeji mushrooms, etc)

Quite regularly the hold various theme parties and jams at “Coco Loco”, that are supported by local and foreign DJs, as well as live musicians that keep on rockin’ the place till the early morning. All events are published on the Facebook/Twitter pages.

Prices are quite democratic for the Old Town area, ranging around 4LVL for the main food courses, as well as beers around 2.50 EUR. They also accept debit and credit cards, which is a good thing. However we were told that sometimes UK and Irish Visas were not coming through, so make sure you have MasterCard on you. They also do happy hours every day.

The staff members of “Coco Loco” are very friendly, speak both English and Russian and have a good sense of humour, so you can always have a little chat with them at the bar. They are also pretty inventive with their cocktails, which we think is a definite plus. Free WiFi is also available.

Happy hours:

Daily: 19:00 – 21:00, 30 % discount on strong drinks (beers / shots / cocktails or vodkas/rums and whiskeys).

Price Range:

Food: 3.50 – 10 EUR
Drinks: 2.50 – 6 EUR
