A mechanic cuckoo greets you with a jolly chirp and the sweet aroma of freshly baked cakes envelops you with a warm happy feeling the very moment you enter the “Kukotava” cafe and bakery.

Wooden furniture, vintage utensils, brick walls and painted chalkboards, Kukotava’s interior reminds of a little fairy-tale factory, squatted by some diligent “gnomes” cafe’s employees. You can watch them working their magic in the open kitchen, while waiting for your orders.

Handmade chocolate truffles, classic cheesecakes, cookies, hot apple strudels, authentic Latvian sweet (like “Vecrīgas”), delicious “Medus Kūka” cafe (so moist and soft, that it literally melts in your mouth!) and rhubarb pie (seasonal), as well as coffees, teas, various light salads & homemade liqueurs – the menu of “Kukotava” is simple yet elegant. And even though some of their offerings can seem a bit pricey, it is definitely a must visit the place while exploring the Central District of Riga.
